Lighttpd 1.4.13 with PHP 5.2.0 and zlib.output_compression=on in php.ini work very slow

Description

Lighttpd 1.4.13 + PHP 5.2.0 + Suhosin 0.9.16 + APC 3.0 on FreeBSD 6.1

When I enable zlib.output_compression (= on) in php.ini, Lighttpd responses get very slow (about 1 second or so per request). Disable it and everything goes back to normal. With Apache (2.0) the same configuration works perfectly. I checked the headers and the content gets gzipped, only performance drops like a brick.

Could this be related to #949, i.e. PHP 5.2.0 and Lighttpd 1.4.13 (FastCGI) problems. I noticed that the PHP guys did some work on their FastCGI handling in 5.2.0... Still Apache handles 5.2.0 without problems.

The problem still persists with PHP 5.2.1...
